  • Ruth Rodgers

Ruth spent most of her adult years believing that she had a handle on fitness. That is, until she was introduced to CrossFit and Olympic Weightlifting. Her first workout left her sore, humbled, and wanting to learn more. Her love of weightlifting has also helped her embrace the singlet and compete in local meets, hoping to go to Nationals one day.

She first discovered her love for training when she was assigned to the Physical Training/Arrest and Control Unit at the Los Angeles Police Academy. Seeing people strive to be their best every day and pushing the envelop was so inspiring she decided to do it full time. She later received her CrossFit Level 1 certification, then passed the Level 2 Certification back in 2009, and is now looking forward to attaining her Level 4 certification once she takes the written test.

Ruth’s pre-toddler hobbies included rock climbing, surfing, and 3-Gun Competitions, but lately her free time has been spent chasing after her 2 yr old son and she couldn’t be happier. Just as she thought, CrossFit has exponentially improved her performance in all the above activities.

Aside from baby elephants, puppies, and a perfect pour over, nothing brings a tear to her eyes like seeing people achieve Personal Records: be it a strict pull-up, a 2x body weight deadlift, or the mental victory of knowing they can push themselves much harder than ever before.

  • Sean Rodgers

Sean’s commitment to fitness began at an early age playing a wide array of sports including soccer, basketball, and football. His athletic prowess afforded him the opportunity to play and coach collegiate football at the United States Air Force Academy and the honor of playing on a team ranked as high as 15th in national polls. Thanks to his football endeavors and knowledgeable strength coaches, Sean has a healthy background in Olympic Weightlifting and Powerlifting. Sean experienced first-hand how these modalities improve overall fitness and athleticism and enjoys “paying it forward” helping others achieve their health, fitness, and sports goals. Sean’s training background also includes being a Physical Training Leader in the United States Air Force for six years. I have been "CrossFitting" since early 2006. Once I was exposed to the basics of CrossFit I immediately recognized the benefits of this system.

Although I have been involved in several styles of Martial Arts and have a background in Law Enforcement (both training and working with) I have never found a fitness program that better prepares you for life's unknown challenges. Once I found it, I learned as much as I could about the basic elements of CrossFit, attending various related certifications. I earned an Olympic Weightlifting Cert, a CrossFit Level 2 Instructor Certification, Crossfit Football Cert as well as learning the basics of nutrition from the Paleobrands Team: Loren Cordain, Robb Wolf, and John Welbourn.

Why might you want to “CrossFit”? Is it for the health benefits? Are you an athlete looking to better your game? Are you looking to fit better in the yellow polka dot bikini? Is it an ego thing…“My workout is harder than your workout!” Are you preparing for combat and recognize CrossFit as the best way to be ready for the unknown? Do you want to be able to keep up with your children as they grow. Do you simply want to be able to eat what you want, when you want to? Or is it your natural fear Zombies and desire to evade them??? Those are just a few of the reasons I can think of.

I believe in providing the Beginning Student safe and informative instruction while helping the Advanced Athlete improve their game. I learned early on that “The Basics Bring You Home” and in CrossFit the basics make you strong, fit and ready for life’s challenges.

Show up, Sweat and SMILE ’cause fitness is fun again!!!
